What is the CELI 2i B1 Citizenship Exam? 

CELI 2i for Citizenship is the official certificate issued by the University for Foreigners of Perugia, certifying your knowledge of Italian at the B1 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). This certificate is used to apply for Italian citizenship and serves as an official B1-level Italian language certification.

What is the purpose of the CELI 2i B1? 

This exam is designed to meet the requirements of Italian citizenship law. It assesses your listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, allowing you to demonstrate a well-rounded preparation.

How is the exam structured?

The exam is divided into two parts:

  1. Writing production 3 tasks including: reading comprehension, writing comprehension and listening comprehension.
  2. Speaking test.

The WRITTEN TEST consists of three components. To pass these three tests, you must achieve a minimum score of 72 points.

Speaking test: to pass this test, you must achieve a minimum score of 11 points.

To pass the CELI 2i B1 Citizenship Exam, you need to score at least 92 points out of 160.

IMPORTANT: If you pass the written test but fail the oral test, you can retake only the speaking part within a year. Similarly, if you pass the speaking test but fail the written test, you can retake only the written part within a year.

How to register for the exam? 

Do not wait until the last minute! Remember to check the registration deadline, which is usually set one month before the exam date. If you have any doubts, email [email protected].

What is the exam calendar?

When will the exam results be available? 

Approximately 50 days after the exam, you can check the results on the website of the University for Foreigners of Perugia and print a temporary certificate. The official certificate is available after 90 days.

Does the CELI certificate expire? No. CELI Language Certificates, for all six CEFR levels (A1-C2), are internationally recognized and do not expire.
