Ciao a tutti! My name is Manuela. Though I’m Salentina at heart, I grew up in Rome. I hold a degree in Political Science from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a focus on International Politics.
For those who may not know, being Salentina means having roots in Salento, a beautiful region in Puglia, located in the South of Italy – Famous for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear sea, and delicious local dishes, both sweet and savory. And yes, my family is from there, and I couldn’t be more proud!
Communication is my world. I write, talk, and read a lot for my job. I started teaching Italian as a Second Language about fifteen years ago and it was a true love! After collaborating with various schools in Rome, karma led me, in 2022, to start working with Scuola Mangiaparole. Over the years, I’ve gained experience teaching Italian language and culture to diplomats from various Embassies in Rome. I’ve taught both adults and children, in group and individual classes, and I have a lot of fun teaching the online course created by Mangiaparole: “Italian for Tourists.”
While I was in college, I had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the ERASMUS exchange program at Roskilde University in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I spent 7 unforgettable months.
Teaching Italian isn’t just about sharing my language and culture; it’s also about receiving the gift of a rich cultural exchange, broadening one’s horizons, and discovering different and fascinating realities. Every student is a great source of personal enrichment and fun!
My hobbies? Yoga, travel, reading, and, of course, my beloved sea. My favorite food? Without any doubt, “pasticciotti leccesi”—if you haven’t tried them yet, go find them. You will get addicted! My favorite city, aside from Rome, is New York.
