Hey there! I’m Mohsen, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Mangiaparole team as the English courses coordinator di Mangiaparole. As a TEFL-certified English teacher, my experience includes teaching English to students privately and in groups, both online and in-person.

My academic journey in Italy began in 2018 when I enrolled at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English language and literature, I started my career teaching English to both Italians and foreigners. Today, I’m continuing my academic journey with a program in American studies at La Sapienza, University of Rome. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty and complexity of languages and cultures, recognizing their significance in shaping our identities. I found very intriguing to explore how languages influence one another.

I’ve had the privilege of working with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) for four years, serving as an interpreter, translator and community services assistant. During my time there, I learned about connecting people not only through languages and culture but also through the human experience. Working closely with refugees from diverse backgrounds, I witnessed firsthand how language barriers could impede communication and access to vital services. Through interpretation and translation, I bridged these gaps, enabling individuals to express themselves and access the support they needed. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of language as a tool for empowerment and understanding across cultures.

Reading has been a lifelong passion for me, encompassing classic and contemporary literature, as well as magazines like The New Yorker. In my free time, I also enjoy immersing myself in nature and the woods, listening to and recording the songs of birds.

My absolute favorite Italian dish is pasta cacio e pepe!
