The Communicative Method at Mangiaparole
Our Experience in Teaching Italian to Foreigners
The communicative approach used in our Italian courses finds its balance between spoken Italian and grammar. We believe in teaching grammar within a specific context, integrating it into authentic communication activities during Italian lessons. We introduce grammatical concepts through simple writing exercises. Students have the opportunity to practice and apply them in spontaneous conversations using examples from everyday life from day one.
Regarding our curriculum, we emphasize that the effectiveness of the communicative method depends on the teacher’s perception and the relationship established with the individual or the class. It’s crucial to keep motivation alive throughout the learning journey by investing in personalized lesson preparation. We recognize each student’s uniqueness and different learning styles, ensuring that each student is consistently heard and motivated.
We use authentic materials – such as videos, songs, short stories, newspaper articles, or poems – to develop reading comprehension, vocabulary, listening, and conversation skills. We promote cultural nuances, encourage discussions, and foster empathy in class. Our goal is to provide an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging learning environment for all our students. All courses follow the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
“The communicative method for language learning is an approach that emphasizes practical language use in daily life. This method is based on the idea that the Italian language is learned when students engage in authentic communication and actively participate in real conversations. All our teachers passionately adopt this method, enabling students to engage in simple conversations from the very first days of class, ensuring a high-quality educational experience.” – Anita Lorenzotti, Director of Education.”
