Hi everyone, my name is Silvano. I hold a degree in Oriental Languages and Civilizations with a focus on Japanese from La Sapienza – University of Rome, and a Master’s in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language from UNISTRASI – University for Foreigners of Siena.
I was trained at the Torre di Babele school in Rome and earned the Level II DITALS certification from the University for Foreigners of Siena. I am also a certified examiner for both the CILS (Certification of Italian as a Foreign Language) and PLIDA (Dante Alighieri Italian Language Project) exams.
For years, I’ve been teaching Italian to foreigners of all ages and proficiency levels, following the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). I currently work with a variety of students at embassies, convents, and religious congregations in Rome. My students come from different backgrounds, some need Italian for work, tourism, or religious life in Rome, while others are settling in Italy and want to feel confident using Italian in daily life.
I place great emphasis on spoken communication, helping students handle real-life tasks such as making phone calls, managing bureaucratic procedures, and interacting in everyday situations.
I also teach the IDL – Italian for Driver’s Licence Course, a highly effective course designed specifically for foreigners in Italy who want to pass the Italian theory test and obtain their patente B. The course is ideal if you’re looking to understand Italian road signs, vocabulary, and official test language so you can drive safely and confidently in Italy.
Helping people integrate linguistically and practically into Italian life is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work as an Italian teacher.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, hiking, and discovering new places. I also love exploring different cultures and cuisines. As for Italian food, I have a soft spot for first courses—especially risotto and pasta.
