Ciao a tutti! I’m Laura Di Terlizzi from Milan and I am also part of this great Italian teachers’ staff!
About me: I have always been passionate about the languages, about dealing with people
from other countries and of course about travelling. So, after many years flying through different businesses (and also travelling a lot!), I landed on the teaching planet and totally fell in love with it!
But let’s quickly talk about what I did before: some years in tourism (see dealing with people mentioned before), then more years in the University, as assistant to the Head of Foreign Languages Studies, and then then I moved onto the voiceover and advertising
business; after that, I had a longer experience in a famous Italian radio station, as
assistant to the news department. Could I have stopped there? No, of course! My endless curiosity pushed me to explore further and so I became an audiovisual translator (for movies subtitles and dubbing) for almost 15 years.
So now I have become a language coach, I bring all this expertise and knowledge into my teaching, too. I mainly work for universities (Milano Bicocca, Milano Statale, IULM), for companies’ managers or employees, for opera singers and musicians (Scuola Claudio Abbado), for immigrant centres or simply for private students. And how has all this been possible? Thanks to my studies and preparation, which allowed me to start new exciting journeys every time. I got a University Foreign Language Degree and the Ditals II teaching certification. And right because I believe good education is crucial, I strongly encourage my students to never give up, although sometimes they feel unmotivated and tired.
But now enough with serious talk! What do I do beyond work? 1) I love gymnastics, both watching it and practising it (now a bit less the “for young-version” and more the “for elderly-people one!). 2) I also love walking, wherever I can: in a city street, in the countryside, in the mountains, even at home sometimes! And 3) of course travelling, travelling and more travelling! I think wandering through the countries is the ultimate pleasure in life.
How do I fuel all this? By eating lots of pasta, vegetables and Parmesan cheese, which absolutely is my favourite dish!
